It was abandoned in the late 19th century, probably due to the dwindling of the Indian population in the area. The natural "eternal flame" went out in 1969, after nearly a century of exploitation of petroleum and gas in the area but is now lit by gas piped from the nearby city End of tour.

- The village of Gachresh is one of the most picturesque and lively corners of the lip. The peculiarity of this area is given by the mysterious forest through which the road to Gachresh passes. It seems that the rays of the sun never penetrate this dense forest. In the magical forest, as in childhood, “the trees are so big” that the crown is not visible. Along the road, there are recreation areas and restaurants where you can sample the local cuisine. If you go further, you find yourself in the Gudyalchay canyons: steep ascents and descents of the road pass through the steep walls of the gorge. Even in the most unbearable summer heat, it is always cold here – mountain streams of the bubbling Gudyalchay River with a roar go down and amaze with their grandeur.
